Global Wellness Day – A Day That Brings Us Back to Ourselves

Reflections from the event featuring Karl Nielsen, Darko Cvetković, and Energy House

In a world where we are constantly chasing tasks, goals, and external validation, Global Wellness Day reminds us each year of something essential — we have the right to pause. To breathe. To simply be.

This year, as invited guests of this international movement, Karl, myself – Darko Cvetković, and our team from Energy House had the honor of contributing to a space devoted to Mindfulness, inner peace, and shared growth.

The event in Serbia was beautifully organized by Nataša Ranitović, as part of the Global Wellness Day initiative, and took place at the serene and welcoming Planinka 4 Hotel in Kuršumlijska Banja. The hotel proved to be an exceptional host, offering not only comfort and hospitality but a full spectrum of wellness-oriented accompanying programs that made this day truly special.

In an atmosphere full of warmth and authentic connection, Karl delivered a talk that will stay with us for a long time. His presence was not loud — it didn’t seek to dominate, but rather to gently touch hearts. And it did. He spoke softly, simply, yet profoundly — about inner happiness, about choosing to be present, about the courage to let go of the mask of achievement and connect with ourselves as we truly are.

His words were not slogans, but experiences that could be felt in the body. A calm energy of trust surrounded him. People listened with smiles — and with tears in their eyes — as if someone had finally spoken what they had long carried inside.

Through the metaphor of the “Happiness Dragon, Karl reminded us that our obstacles are not enemies, but guardians of our deepest treasures. That true happiness is not found in external circumstances, but in our capacity to be fully here — aware, grateful, and alive.

As part of this experience, I had the opportunity to share practices from NLP and Mindfulness, guiding participants out of survival mode and into a state of inner presence and meaning.

This day was more than a program — it was a process of returning to ourselves, a gentle awakening from the automatic routines of daily life, and a meeting with something deeper, softer, and more real within us.

We are deeply grateful to the organizers, hosts, and all participants — to Nataša for her heartfelt dedication, to Hotel Planinka 4 for providing a truly nourishing environment, and to everyone who came, listened, shared, stayed in silence, and breathed with us. Thank you for supporting the values this movement stands for.

And above all, thank you Karl — for your quiet strength, your calm authenticity, and your ability to inspire without ever needing to say you’re doing so.

Until we meet again, may this day continue to remind us: we don’t need to wait for the perfect moment to live differently. We can begin now. With this breath.

This year, GWD is celebrating 10 years in Serbia, and the main outdoor event will be held at the Hotel "Planinka 4" in Kuršumlijska Banja, winner of the special award of the European Association of Spas for 2024 for medical and wellness services.

Mindfulness members from Serbia of the Association: "Institutes for Mindfulness Evolving" (In-Me) present Mindfulness practice in this spa for the first time in Serbia!

The Global President of the In-Me association, Prof. Dr. Karl Nielsen, will come and present for 1 hour parts of his brand new AITI training "The HAPPINESS DRAGON" and his In-Me training "Mindful Human, In-Me".

In 2025, GWD shifts its focus to the art of reconnection with ourselves, our communities, and the planet. More than ever, this year’s theme encourages individuals to pause, reflect, and actively rekindle meaningful connections that enhance their well-being.

Founded in 2012, Global Wellness Day is a non-profit day celebrated on the second Saturday of every June in over tens of thousands of locations worldwide. All participatory activities are complimentary. As a wellness movement that has brought the world together in an inspiring mission, Global Wellness Day continues to strengthen its influence with the support of many Hollywood stars, A-list authors, world-renowned athletes, musicians, business executives and entrepreneurs, private companies, multi-national hotel corporations, associations, foundations and governments.

In today’s fast-paced world, where digital distractions and societal pressures often lead to isolation, the Global Wellness Day reminds us that true wellness comes from the bonds we cultivate with nature, our inner selves, our loved ones, our community and our health.

  • Reconnect with Community: Contribute to the well-being of your community by engaging in volunteer work or organizing local events. By fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose, we can create a supportive and vibrant community for all.
  • Reconnect with Longevity: Embrace holistic health by prioritizing your physical, mental, emotional, and cognitive well-being. Establish healthy routines, strengthen emotional health and cultivate cognitive health by engaging in stimulating activities, practicing gratitude, and ensuring restorative sleep.
